As a member of the beloved #BeyHive, I was beginning to get a little livid with the lovely Beyonce Giselle Knowles. I mean, she went on a full national and international tour as the Mrs. Carter—-with 2 singles, no album and a few televised appearances. Everyone giggled excitedly during the hoopla but after awhile, it seemed I was the only one in a sea of fans who stopped doing the Uh-Oh dance, flipping my hand back and forth and zipping up my freak’um dress. My record stopped mid-Party and it was last call on my favorite singer/entertainer:
WHERE IS MY BEYONCE ALBUM?
Ugh. I was determined not to give her no $200 for another concert (I’ve already seen her) without another album in my iPod, so I didn’t. Kudos to the curious Georges and #BeyHive members who did so—but not SheQuayzy. 4 didn’t do it for me although I loved the heck out of “Countdown” and “Dance for Me”. I Am…Sasha Fierce definitely didn’t top my favorite, B’Day, but I enjoyed Beyonce taking another angle and experimenting with different sounds. Naturally, by 2013 I wanted that LP. One day short of two weeks into December, and I felt sure it wouldn’t.
And boyyy, did Beyonce deliver in the 4th quarter. Slam-freaking-dunked that thing. With no advertisement (aside from the hum of busy, baffled bees requesting new tunes), “official” singles or any other marketing tools besides the strength of her talent and dedicated fans, Beyonce dropped, “Beyonce” in the dead of the night on December 13, 2014! 14 tracks with 14 accompanying videos (which she hasn’t done since B’Day) and she pulled a Prince on us by dropping a virtually un-marketed album. I’m truly excited about this music because it appears Beyonce plans to bask in her creativity, passion for music and BeyHive love.
This is great for music. It’s great for entertainment and absolutely great for me—as I was a ticking bomb of a busy bee waiting on these records.
I suppose my drive to work will be a lot more fun later this a.m., huh?
Good morning loves. I excited myself in the wee hours of the morning with new vocals from my queen. YOU guys cop the album (I’ve got it, naturally), enjoy yourselves and let’s watch Bey Season REALLY kick off. Happy December, all! It’s a BEY-eautiful month for music indeed.
